At LifeMoves, we often talk about the impact of our work in transforming lives and how deeply it inspires us when our clients make progress toward a brighter future. But some of the most inspiring stories come from within our own team. Marissa Carino, formerly a Lead Case Manager for the Rapid Rehousing Program at LifeMoves, is one of those inspiring stories.
Marissa first joined LifeMoves as a part of our Healthcare for the Homeless team before transitioning to our Homeless Outreach Team. However, her connection to this work runs much deeper. She and her family—her mother, father, and brother—once experienced homelessness and were clients of LifeMoves. Thanks to the supportive services available, they have been permanently housed for more than a decade.
Marissa’s journey fuels her passion for helping our clients. She understands firsthand the challenges they face and brings a level of empathy and compassion that is truly invaluable. She meets people where they are, offering hope and reminding them that brighter days are ahead—just as someone once did for her.
“I don’t know if every person I come in contact with will be a success,” Marissa shares, “but I give them the vision of hope regardless of their willingness.”
Marissa’s story is a testament to the impact of our mission— not just in changing lives but in empowering those we serve every day. We are so proud to have had her as part of LifeMoves for the past five years. She has now embarked on another opportunity with San Mateo County, one of our valued community partners.
