Blanca is a bright and courageous 14-year-old girl who touched hearts at last year’s A Home for Everyone luncheon when she shared a heartfelt poem. Blanca and her family are from El Salvador, and like many families, they faced unimaginable challenges during the pandemic. In 2020, both of Blanca’s parents lost their jobs, forcing the family of five to live in their van.
For two years, they lived at the LifeMoves Supportive Parking program in Redwood City. Eventually, they transitioned to Redwood Family House, an interim housing community that serves families, where they stayed for nine months. Because of their courage and determination combined with support from LifeMoves, Blanca’s family secured stable housing, and they now live in their own apartment—a testament to their resilience and determination.
Blanca’s story is a powerful reminder of the strength and perseverance of the families we serve. Through hard work, support, and unwavering determination, she and her family have built a brighter future—one filled with hope, opportunity, and stability.
