Aubrey is a graduate of the Stanford University School of Business, Executive Program for Nonprofit Leaders and a Senior Fellow with the American Leadership Forum of Silicon Valley (Class XXXVII). Aubrey was recognized with the Paul Harris Fellows Award from the South San Francisco Rotary Club. Aubrey graduated summa cum laude with an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Hawaii Pacific University and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Hawaii.
Aubrey also serves on the Board of Directors for Santa Clara Counties Continuum of Care, Opportunity Center HDC, Inc., and HOPE (housing our people effectively) IAC (inter agency council).

For over 15 years, Shannon has been a development leader in Bay Area nonprofits. She started her career working for grassroots organizations as a direct service provider. Inspired by seeing the significant impact that a small group of people with shared values can have in their community, Shannon then set out to learn everything she could about building effective nonprofits. She went on to raise funds for social services, healthcare, civil liberties, arts, and education organizations across the Bay Area.
Shannon most recently served as the Campaign Director at Second Harvest of Silicon Valley, where she successfully helmed the most ambitious campaign in the organization’s history - a $150M capital campaign to expand and unify the agency’s operations. Prior to Second Harvest, Shannon served as Development Director for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula, where she was part of a team that doubled revenue in three years to close the opportunity gap for students.
Shannon serves as Board President for the Redwood City Education Foundation. She led the evolution of their mission from equal resource distribution to students to equitable support focused on the district’s most under-resourced schools.
Shannon received her bachelor’s degree from UC Berkeley and, with a full Presidential Scholarship, earned her master’s degree in mass communication and media arts from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
Paul is an Oakland, CA. native with strong and long-term ties to the Bay Area. He is a respected executive with outstanding interpersonal and consensus-building skills, capable of leading and motivating teams to deliver superior results. Recognized as a creative and effective strategic planner, facilitator, and problem solver.
In addition to strong financial acumen, Paul brings a wealth of leadership qualities from his 20-year career in advising companies on financial strategies, acquisitions, and technology rollouts. In addition to his deep financial acumen and experience, he has extensive experience in Technology/IT/Data, fundraising, strategy, and venture investing.
His dynamic leadership style that values and promotes diversity, collaboration, accountability, and teamwork carries over from his professional to community service activities. He currently serves on the UC Santa Cruz Foundation, The Compton Community College Foundation, and E3 – Education, Excellence & Equity boards. He has previously served on The Marin Academy Board of Trustees, and UC Santa Cruz Alumni Association. He is also the Founder and COO of Silicon Valley Soldiers and Prospects on Deck. Paul’s passion is in his belief that each person has amazing potential and systems need to be designed to propel people’s brilliance.
Paul’s education experience built the foundation for his professional journey with a BA from UC Santa Cruz in Business Management Economics and an MBA from the Haas School at UC Berkeley.
Prior to joining LifeMoves as a full-time employee, Denise consulted for LifeMoves and Silicon Valley Venture Fund (SV2). Denise spent over a decade at Legacy Venture, as Director of the Community where she built and managed Legacy’s diverse community of philanthropic individuals and foundations invested in Legacy funds. She worked with members to refine Legacy’s community strategy to provide effective ways to engage, connect and collaborate for a greater philanthropic impact.
Denise pursues broad and active philanthropic interests and is excited to focus on the great local need and help address the crisis of homelessness.
Denise is a native of Highland Park, IL and holds a B.S. in Business from Indiana University, Bloomington. She lives in the bay area with her husband and has two adult children.

Patrick is a Managing General Partner of Frazier Healthcare Partner’s Life Sciences team. He joined the firm in 1999 and opened Frazier’s Menlo Park office in 2003. Throughout his 10 years as a General Partner, Patrick has led or co-led investments across 16 companies. Prior to joining Frazier, he helped develop McKinsey & Company’s West Coast biotechnology consulting practice, where he led projects involving mergers and acquisitions, product launches, sales force optimization, corporate partnering, and research prioritization. Patrick received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and also holds a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate and Morehead Scholar
Melissa leads LinkedIn’s Brand Marketing, Communications, and Social Impact with over 20 years of experience in communications and marketing. Before joining LinkedIn, she was Vice President and Chief Communications Officer at Cisco Systems where she managed over 200 communications professionals worldwide.
Melissa earned her Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Berkeley’s Haas School of Business and her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Engineering Certificate Coursework from Princeton University.
Greg is an experienced PwC partner who leads the Financial Services Practice for the Western United States. In this role, he helps ensure that our clients receive knowledgeable resources who effectively respond to their issues and concerns. His clients include global investment management firms, investment banks, broker/dealers and both mutual funds and alternative investment funds. He has also worked with leading educational and not for profit organizations. Greg is viewed as a strategic advisor to management on global business matters, talent, governance and controls and processes. Greg earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from St. Bonaventure University and is a Certified Public Accountant in California. He serves as a member of the finance committee for LifeMoves, a charity focused on ending homeless in the Bay Area. He is also a member of the audit committee for Charles Armstrong School, which serves students with language-based learning differences such as dyslexia.
Julie Gruber is Executive Vice President Global General Counsel for Gap Inc., overseeing advertising, commercial law and worldwide intellectual property matters. Before joining Gap in 1998, Julie worked at Bronson, Bronson and McKinnon in San Francisco and clerked for the Honorable Ronald M. Whyte in the Federal District Court in San Jose. In addition to her work with LifeMoves, Julie serves on the Executive Committee for the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women Campaign. She is a graduate of the University of California’s Hastings College of the Law and received her B.A. in Political Science from Yale University.
Joe Stockwell is currently a Principal with Odyssey Management Capital specializing in Telecomand Media. Joe has held a variety of leadership positions in the Communications and Media space, including Corporate Development at WURL, Inc., President and Chairman at PT Access Networks, President of Epik Communications, and Sr. Director of Corporate Development at Apple. Joe holds a BBA in Marketing from Cleveland State University, and a JD from Boston College.
As the wealth and opportunity gaps in the Bay Area economy widen and deepen, Project WeHOPE co-founder and President Pastor Paul Bains is continuing his lifelong commitment by helping the most marginalized individuals and families achieve stability and build toward a more promising future.
Located in East Palo Alto in San Mateo County, the mission of Project WeHOPE is to help people become healthy, employed and housed using innovative solutions. Pastor Bains is recognized as a tireless, transformative leader whose vision, actions and collaborative efforts improve the lives of people throughout the Bay Area. Annually, PWH serves 5,000 people of whom more than 60% are of color, 30% are formerly incarcerated, 10% are LGBTQ and more than 90% are living in poverty. The geographic regions served include San Mateo, Santa Clara, San Francisco and Alameda counties.
Today, the programs and services at Project WeHOPE are constantly evolving and expanding to meet emerging needs. The primary activities follow – all reflecting a strong value for meeting people were they are and dignifying who they are.
• A shelter for homeless adults including services to help them return to self-sufficiency. The 55-bed shelter in East Palo Alto offers an impactful portfolio of services to meet physical, emotional and educational needs. In addition to case management, clients are able to participate in classes such as 12-step recovery, anger management, world-class relationships for work and home and financial literacy to prepare them for living on their own.
• HOPE Jobs training, certification and placement for shelter clients and anyone who is interested. This includes training and required certification or licenses in high-demand, accessible fields, such as security guard, custodial technician and food service worker.
• Dignity on Wheels mobile showers, laundries and outreach for the homeless and insufficiently housed. Its 3 units serve 14 locations in 4 counties: San Mateo, Santa Clara, Alameda & San Francisco.
• A soon to be launched Safe Parking Initiative, to address the increase in people living in RVs and campers. Pastor Bains is a driving force behind this initiative, which brings together RV dwellers, the City of East Palo Alto, the faith-based community, service providers and funders including foundations and corporations.
The work of Pastor Bains, his wife and co-founder Cheryl Bains, and that of Project WeHOPE are widely recognized. He is a fellow of the American Leadership Forum, and in 2016, Project WeHOPE received one of the first California State Senate Non-Profit of the Year awards.
Christina Corpus received her BA (Criminal Justice) from Union Institute & University in Cincinnati and is currently attending the University of San Diego for her Master’s in Public Leadership. She currently works as Captain at the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office and has 17 years of experience in Law Enforcement. She was formerly a Caseworker for the Child Support Division in San Mateo County District. With Christina’s creativity and her innovative approach, she will bring a different and interesting perspective to the Board.
Scott Goree graduated from the University of Maryland with degrees in Management & Computer Studies and is also a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he served as a Civil Engineer. Scott is currently the VP, Global Partners and Alliances for Skyhigh Security. Before his current position, he was Sr. Director of Worldwide Distribution at Nutanix, and before that Director, Head of Global Distribution at Pure Storage and was in Global Networking and a Security Sales Leader at Cisco. While at Cisco, Scott served as the Veterans Employee Resource Group Director, helping veterans transition successfully into civilian life through mentorship and career guidance. Scott Goree is a passionate go-getter and a successful leader who will bring strong strategic and project management skills to the LifeMoves Board along with his passion for serving Veterans.
Tiffany serves the Chief Administrative Officer for the Office of the President at Franklin Templeton Investments. Prior to this role, she worked as an Audit Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers in San Francisco. She has broad experience with accounting, budgeting, auditing, and overall operations in a large organization. Tiffany has been deeply involved with LifeMoves since 2014, when she started as a volunteer with InnVision Shelter Network. Tiffany quickly began to help the organization by lending her expertise and fundraising skills, having served on the Development Committee since 2014 and now holding the role of Chair of the Principal Gifts Task Force. Tiffany holds a BA from the Haas Business School at the University of California, Berkeley.
Ahmed Khatib is a founder of Lloyd Khatib Group within Private Wealth Management at Merrill. Ahmed works closely with entrepreneurs, wealth creators, senior executives, and other ultra-high-net-worth clients to help them grow, preserve, and transfer their wealth more effectively. Prior to joining Merrill, Ahmed worked at Wells Fargo Private Bank, where he was a Senior Investment Strategist. He has worked in investing and wealth management since 2000. Ahmed earned his M.B.A. from the Paul Merage School of Business, University of California, Irvine, and his undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor in Economics from the University of California, San Diego. His education includes a year of study at the University of Reading in England. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) designation and is a CFP® certificant. He is also a member of the Financial Planning Association of Silicon Valley and the CFA® Society of San Francisco.
Lauren has worked in both investment banking and residential real estate development, while also volunteering for numerous organizations throughout the community. She currently serves on the East Palo Alto Academy Foundation Board and Charter Advisory Board, the Stanford Parents Advisory Board, and the Committee for Part the Cloud, an organization devoted to Alzheimer’s research. Prior to this, Lauren served on the Sacred Heart Schools’ Board of Trustees, the Stanford Haas Center for Public Service National Advisory Board, the Graduate School of Education Advisory Board, the Major Gifts Committee for The Stanford Challenge Campaign, and participated as a tutor and mentor at East Palo Alto Academy. Lauren studied Human Biology and Economics at Stanford University, and received a MBA from New York University.
Gene leads the teams across the firm’s global footprint that provide wealth management advice,
solutions and service to individuals, family offices, foundations, and endowments. He is a member of Fiduciary Trust’s Executive, Management, and Operating Committees. He is also a member of
Franklin Templeton Management Committee. Gene has more than 25 years of experience in the
financial services industry, including wealth management, private equity, venture capital, M&A and
leveraged buyouts. Prior to joining Fiduciary Trust, Gene served as head of wealth management at
First Bank, Inc., one of the country’s largest family-owned banks. Prior to joining First Bank, he
served as director of sales at Key Private Bank and head of the Equity Sponsor Group at National
City Corp., now PNC Bank. Prior to joining PNC, he was an investment banker at Morgan Stanley,
focused on M&A and capital market transactions for leveraged buyout firms. Gene earned an MBA
from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science degree from The Ohio State University.
He is a former board member of the Bank Insurance & Securities Industry (BISA).
Gene is married and has a son, Bryce, who is in college. In his spare time, Gene enjoys working out and riding his Harley.
May Topper received her BA (Economics) and MBA (Finance/Marketing) from Duke University. She currently works as a marketing consultant in the Bay Area and for the past three years has focused on brand strategy and communication. She is the former Vice President of Marketing for Oral-B and spent 15 years working in marketing and brand management for Fortune 500 companies including General Foods, and Gillette/Oral-B. May has been a longtime volunteer and supporter of LifeMoves and will be extremely helpful as we work to improve how we communicate the LifeMoves mission and programs to our community.
Pamela Weiss is a philanthropist, community activist, and writer. She has held leadership positions in product development, marketing, and strategic business development in the online consumer real estate and media industries, overseeing development of online leasing transaction systems, content partnering, ancillary news products, and M&A. She is a former newspaper editor, designer, and journalist. In addition to her work with LifeMoves, Pamela serves on the advisory board for CrisisTextLine.org, and is a trained volunteer Crisis Counselor and public speaker for the organization. She received an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and her B.S. degree in journalism from the University of Florida.
Rod is a co-founder of Panorama Capital, a venture capital firm that spun off from JPMorgan Partners (JPMP) in July 2006, where he focuses primarily on life sciences investments. He joined JPMP as a Managing Director in their life sciences venture practice in 2001. From 1999 to 2001, Dr. Ferguson was a partner at InterWest Partners, a venture capital firm, where he focused on life sciences investments. Prior to InterWest, he held a variety of management positions over an 11-year career at Genentech, Inc., most recently as Senior Director of Business and Corporate Development, responsible for worldwide licensing transactions for both technology and pharmaceutical products. Prior to joining Genentech, Inc., Rod was an associate with the law firm McCutchen, Doyle, Brown, & Enersen (currently known as Bingham McCutchen llp). Rod in the life sciences industry, and two non-profit boards. In addition, he serves on the board of directors of several private life science companies. Rod earned a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois, a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the State University of New York, and a J.D. from Northwestern University.
Christine is a former Mayor for the Town of Hillsborough and served on the Hillsborough City Council for eight years before retiring in 2012. She was Finance Director for several successful campaigns for Congresswoman Jackie Speier. Christine has been an active volunteer in the local community and was named Hillsborough Citizen of the Year for 2009. She joined the Shelter Network Board of Directors in 2007, and was Board Chair during the merge into what became InnVision/Shelter Network before being renamed LifeMoves. Christine was active in the renovation effort for LifeMoves site Family Crossroads in Daly City, and currently serves on the Program Committee there. She and her husband Jeff have been married for over 30 years and have two grown sons, John and Will.
Steve joined the law firm in 1975. A Bay Area native, Steve has more than 35 years of legal experience, and leads one of the most respected estate-planning practices in San Mateo County. During his years of practice, he has developed and implemented virtually every type of estate-planning mechanism. His legal experience also includes partnership and corporation formation, as well as real estate transactions. Steve has served as legal counsel for the Millbrae Lion’s Club since 1978, and as counsel for CORA (Community Overcoming Relationship Abuse). Steve holds a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley, and a J.D. from Hastings College of the Law, University of California.
