SANTA CLARA, CA –Santa Clara County has been awarded a $25.7 million state Homekey grant to build the Santa Clara Family Community, a 30-unit temporary housing development for families experiencing homelessness. Located at Benton Street and Lawrence Expressway, the site will provide private bedrooms for up to 100–120 individuals along with amenities such as laundry, daycare, a playground, and a dog park. The project is a public–private partnership funded by the County, City of Santa Clara, and nonprofit operator LifeMoves, which will manage the site and deliver wraparound services in health, education, employment, and housing. This initiative adds to the County’s broader Community Plan to End Homelessness, which has already secured more than $250 million in Homekey awards, created over 1,000 new units, and helped tens of thousands of residents move from homelessness into shelter and permanent housing.
